I was born and raised in South Georgia. In 1979, I moved to Orlando to attend the University of Central Florida. I graduated from UCF in 1983 with high honors and went to law school at Samford University Law School, graduating with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1986.
I moved back to Florida, passed the Bar Examination, and went to work as a Florida lawyer in 1986 in central Florida. In 1990, my wife and I moved to the Gainesville, Florida area where we lived, raised our son (Logan), and where I practiced law for 31 years. In 2019 my wife and I decided to move to her adopted hometown of St. Augustine where we had vacationed and visited her life-long friends for many years. That same year, I became affiliated with The McLeod Firm in an “Of Counsel” position handling a small case load of personal injury cases as a “semi-retired” attorney.
In June of 2021, we bought a home in St. Augustine and moved here full-time. Since then, as The McLeod Firm practice grew and developed, I have taken on a full case load and have returned to the full-time practice of law. For more than 25 years, I have been handling a wide variety of personal injury cases to include car accidents, motorcycle accidents (I have been an avid rider for almost 50 years), crashes involving semi-trucks, boating accidents, slip or trip and fall cases, and many others.
My philosophy is that attorney-client communications are the key to effective representation. That is why every client has not only my office telephone number and email, but my personal cell phone number as well. I strive to return every email, text, or telephone call the same day it is received.
When I was a young lawyer, one of my mentors said, “clients want to win, but more than that, they want you to fight for them like it is your case”. I’ve done my best to remember that and give that kind of effort to every client and case entrusted to my care.
